The word credenza is an Italian word meaning ‘credence’ or ‘truth.’ The original use for this piece of furniture was as a buffet in the dining quarters of a king, pope or
nobleman. Food placed on the credenza was taste tested for poison before serving – so eating food from the credenza was the moment of truth!
